and classrooms retrofitted for hands-on learning.

ROC WEST MAIN
The ROC at the Goodwill Construction Skills Training Center is a 15,000-square-foot warehouse located directly across from Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology. We’re walking distance to Harding University High and a short shuttle from West Mecklenburg.

The CTE training programs offered to The ROC youth apprentices include advanced carpentry, electrical, HVAC and construction management. The facility has classrooms and labs all with updated industry-specific equipment that allows instructors to work directly with you in an active-learning environment.

Notable features for this hands-on active-learning facility include:

  • Three labs including a large flex lab where apprentices will build tiny homes

  • Three “smart” classrooms with large touch-screen TVs

  • Computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) technology lab

  • Building information modeling (BIM) software for construction planning and design

  • Laser cutter, 3D printer, flatbed scanner and plotter

  • Individual laptops for apprentices

  • Latest industry lab equipment and materials

The lab sizes are approximately 1,000 square feet each for closed labs, with a 4,400-square-foot large flex lab containing high-quality lighting, sound control, ventilation, and multiple power drops.
