ROC Direct

ROC Direct is a state certified Workforce Continuing Education (WCE) pathway taught by Central Piedmont Community College instructors. This pathway includes stackable industry National Center for Construction and Education (NCCER) certifications, work-based learning internships, and college credit for prior learning.

This is an ideal pathway for students wanting to take construction technology classes each semester who are dedicated to joining the construction industry directly after high school graduation. ROC Direct students receive paid apprenticeships, 1:1 career student support, communication training, and permanent job placement. Our small class sizes ensure students receive individualized instruction and career supports so they can hit the ground running with summer apprenticeships and jobs after high school graduation.

ROC Direct WCE Pathway

Julius L. Chambers High School

Garinger High School

Students from Chambers and Garinger can take NCCER courses at our new state-of-the-art ROC-North facility located a short bus shuttle from their home school. This state certified WCE pathway offers Carpentry, Electrical or HVAC technology plus summer work-based learning opportunities. Students can utilize available elective credits during their 11th and 12th grade years for hands-on construction technology classes to fulfill not only their high school diploma, but also to obtain a highly desirable industry certifications.

ROC Direct Non-WCE Pathway

West Mecklenburg High School

Students from West Meck who participate in our non-WCE ROC Direct pathway receive training in the same NCCER classes as above. Currently, West Meck offers only carpentry classes. It is anticipated West Meck will be a state certified WCE Pathway by Fall 2025, with Electrical and HVAC courses in addition to and summer internships.
